Gloria Jean's has joined forces with the Rainforest Alliance to offer the largest variety of Rainforest Alliance Certified™ coffees available. Gloria Jean's entire line of flavored coffees, both regular and decaf contains Rainforest Alliance Certified beans. That means that when you drink Gloria Jean's flavored coffees you are directly improving the lives of farm workers and tropical wildlife.
Gloria Jean's partnership with the Rainforest Alliance supports their shared goal of conserving ecosystems where coffees are grown and treating farm workers and their families with respect by providing a fair wage, and access to education and medical care. The Rainforest Alliance, an international non-for-profit, collaborates with leading conservation organizations around the world to help farmers, foresters and lodge owners to establish sustainable land use practices that reflect environmental, social and economic concerns.
Throughout Latin America, Africa and Asia coffee beans are grown and harvested by some 25 million farmers, most of them smallholders. The Rainforest Alliance works with farmers to conserve natural resources and to protect forests, rivers and other wildlife habitats. Those farms that meet the Rainforest Alliance's demanding social and environmental standards are awarded a certification seal.
The seal is an incentive to farmers and a guarantee to consumers that Gloria Jean's purchases coffee grown on farms where forests, rivers, soils and wildlife are protected and workers are treated respectfully, paid decent wages, equipped and trained properly and have access to education and health care.
Gloria Jean's believes that the program created by the Rainforest Alliance serves the greatest good for the most people; both on an individual and community-wide level and that the organization supports a wide geographical area, especially when compared to other certification programs. About the Rainforest Alliance
As the first organization in the world to utilize market forces to conserve tropical forests, launching a sustainable forestry division in 1989 and a sustainable agriculture division in 1991, the Rainforest Alliance pioneered a worldwide certification movement. Nearly 35 million acres are now managed according to the highest standards through the Rainforest Alliance's SmartWood program.
