The Australian firm Retail Food Group, parent company of Gloria Jean’s Coffees and It’s a Grind Coffee House, is planning its first expansion into San Antonio, where the company hopes to open up three locations in the near future.
With some 900 Gloria Jean’s locations and 20 It’s a Grind Coffee stores around the world, Retail Food Group USA is hoping that San Antonio can kick start further growth in the state for the company. There is one Gloria Jean’s in McAllen and one It’s a Grind in Austin. Retail Food Group USA is currently looking for parties interested in kickstarting this initial expansion into San Antonio.
According to Laina Sullivan, the director of franchise development for Retail Food Group USA, San Antonio was targeted for its strong economy, great demographic diversity and its reputation as a great tourist destination.
“We love Texas and we love the market there. We believe there’s a lot of growth opportunity and once we secure the right franchisees, we want to expand in that market even more,” said Sullivan.
The company is currently working with a partner in Texas who will find a local firm to handle its real estate needs. While Sullivan did not name the partner, she did say that when it came to real estate, the company’s first choice will always be somewhere with a drive-thru, followed by a location within a commercial shopping center.
