GREENSBORO – Move over Starbucks. Specialty coffeehouse chain Gloria Jean’s Coffees is expanding into North Carolina and it is looking to open shops in the Triad.
“We have a lot of interest in the Triad. We are working to develop in the area,” said Laina Sullivan, director of Franchise Development for Retail Food Group USA, the parent company of Gloria Jean’s Coffees.
Sullivan said no contracts have been signed, but “We’re in dialogue with some folks.”
Sullivan said the process of developing a contract is around four to six weeks.
Gloria Jean’s specializes in hot coffee and drinks and cold coffee drinks called Chillers.
The brand made its North Carolina debut with a five-store development deal in the Triangle. The first shop opened at Crabtree Valley Mall in Raleigh.
